VIDEO: future US ambassador in Budapest learns Hungarian
“Ambassador-Designate David Pressman is enthusiastically diving into his Hungarian lessons before his departure for Hungary”, the US Embassy Budapest wrote on Twitter. Check out the video below.
Here is what we know about Mr Pressman:
- 45-year-old lawyer graduated from New York University School of Law
- he worked as an international human rights lawyer representing victims of terrorism, American hostages held overseas, dissidents and journalists targeted by authoritarian regimes, among others.
- He served as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations for Special Political Affairs during the Obama administration.
- With George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and Jerry Weintraub, Pressman co-founded the Not On Our Watch Project, a leading advocacy and grant-making organisation focused on raising awareness of mass atrocities.
- Hungarian foreign minister already expressed resentment about remarks by US ambassador nominee David Pressman made at his hearing in front of Senate stating that democracy was in decline in Hungary.

The new ambassador to Hungary is bad news. He is there to criticize everything Hungary does. He was sent by a progressive, left supporting regime. Is it not possible to reject this man?
